A tip for you! How to stay on track at the gym

Hi Reader,

Did you get your workout in today?

The best part of eating healthy is maximizing your results by moving your body every day. Whether you exercise to boost your mood, increase muscle mass, stay lean, build endurance and flexibility or all of the above, you get to these goals by having a plan.

This workout tip is short and sweet

Keep a log! When I am working with clients at the gym, part of what I do is document which exercise, weight, reps and frequency. Most of my clients think I am doing this for me to keep track- at first- but then I show them how far they have come in such a short period of time and they quickly start implementing logging their workouts on their own, going to the gym with a plan, and best of all- seeing RESULTS.

Tip from my clients

Having a workout routine already made before you head to the gym is key to maximizing your time. My clients keep track of their progress in one of these three ways.

1- Your clipboard and pen. This may seem old school to some, but the satisfaction of documenting a heavy set makes us smile. You can cart your clipboard around the gym and mark your info down while you rest between sets.

2- Your phone. Just about everyone has their phone with them at the gym. Many of my clients prefer to document their workouts right on their phone. This can be within your favorite app, notes, or text that you share with your trainer.

3- Post-its. This may be one of my favorites. Do you cart your water bottle with you? Try writing your workout on a post-it with your goals for the day and stick it to your water bottle. During your cool down, grab a pen from the desk and put a check by the goals you hit for the day.

However you choose to keep track of your workouts, make sure you do. You'll see greater progress in shorter periods of time and your workout will be much more focused.
